The district heating (DH) system produces thermal energy in the form of hot water (or steam) at one or more central plants (heat sources) and then distributes this energy through underground pipes to buildings connected to the system. Buildings connected to district heating no longer need boilers or to maintain redundancy for heating needs. This study: (1) evaluated the condition of the APG CHPs and heat distribution system, (2) identified thermal energy supply problems and cost-effective technologies to maintain APG`s capability to produce and distribute the needed thermal energy, and (3) recommended renovation and modernization .
